ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Founded in 1973 by Nicholas Molnar, the Poseidon Vineyard began on the cool southern edge of Napa Carneros. There, he pioneered Chardonnay and Pinot Noir farming for Napa’s top sparkling wine houses. Years later, Michael Terrien, Peter Molnar, and Arpad Molnar ventured north to plant a vineyard on an abandoned walnut orchard half a mile high—only to discover they were farming atop a volcano of pure obsidian, thus founding Obsidian Ridge in Red Hills Lake County. The extreme climate and volcanic soils now shape a truly distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker Alex Beloz has crafted wines for over a decade, aging them in Tokaj oak barrels made by Kádár Hungary. The winemakers believe wine must promote healthy ecosystems, which is why Obisidian wines are farmed sustainably. Both Obsidian Ridge and Poseidon Vineyards are Certified California Sustainable.
