ABOUT THE WINE
Ried Grillenparz is a prized Erste Lage (premier cru) vineyard in Stein, on the western edge of Kremstal near the Wachau. Its south-facing terraces are rich in gneiss, mica-schist and calcareous conglomerate, with rocky soils that absorb and retain warmth. The name means “cricket plot,” a nod to the sunny hillside's many crickets. The 2022 is 100% Riesling, sourced from vines planted between 2003 and 2006.
Fermented and matured in stainless steel for seven months, this dry Riesling combines ripe peach, tangerine, lime and white-flower aromas with a refined, medium-bodied texture. Its juicy stone-fruit core is energized by bright acidity, while a lingering stony, subtly saline finish reflects the vineyard's rocky character. At 13.5% alcohol and 3.6 g/L residual sugar, it balances generous ripeness with precision. Delicious with fish, seafood, pork or gently spiced Asian dishes.
