2022 Valdemar Estates Roussanne, Columbia Valley, Washington
On the nose, the 2022 vintage displays subtle nutty and melon tones, framed by herbal and stony accents. Secondary aromas of white tea, pear, Meyer lemon, and hints of apricot emerge in the glass, with a slightly grassy, herbal lift adding complexity. In the mouth, the wine is bright and seamless, with crisp, mouthwatering acidity and a fine mineral backbone.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Valdemar Estates (a Washington State winery jointly operated by fifth‑generation Bodegas Valdemar owners Jesús and Ana Martínez Bujanda, along with winemaker Devyani Gupta) crafts their 2022 Roussanne from two estate sites in the Columbia Valley: Olsen Vineyard (55 %) and Gamache Vineyard (45 %). The grapes are hand-farmed, fermented with native yeasts at cool temperatures over approximately 28 days in neutral French oak barrels, followed by about five months on lees before bottling, which contributes subtle texture and depth without overt oak influence.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
The estate itself brings decades of Spanish viticulture heritage into Washington. While rooted in a Rioja lineage, Valdemar Estates applies an eco-conscious model in Washington, incorporating sustainable practices, biological diversity, and climate protection certification under the leadership of Jesús Martínez Bujanda and winemaker Devyani Gupta. The winery’s emphasis is on balanced, terroir-reflective wines that showcase the precision of Columbia Valley fruit.
