2023 Benedicte et Stephane Tissot Arbois Trousseau "Carbo", Jura, France

Lively, juicy, and wonderfully expressive, the 2023 Arbois Trousseau "Carbo" from Bénédicte et Stéphane Tissot is a vibrant take on one of Jura’s most distinctive red grapes. Made using carbonic maceration, it bursts with notes of wild strawberry, red plum, rose petal, and crushed herbs. The palate is light-bodied and silky, with soft tannins, bright acidity, and a playful, refreshing finish.

ABOUT THIS WINE

Sourced from biodynamically farmed vineyards in Arbois, this 100% Trousseau is vinified using carbonic maceration—a technique more common in Beaujolais that emphasizes fruit-forward aromatics and soft texture. The 2023 vintage offered ideal conditions for this style: ripe fruit, balanced acidity, and low intervention in the cellar.

Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts and without sulfur, and the wine is aged briefly in tank to preserve its freshness and energy. Aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, violets, and forest floor jump from the glass, while the palate delivers pure fruit, gentle grip, and a juicy, mouthwatering finish.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Bénédicte et Stéphane Tissot are among the Jura’s most respected and dynamic winemakers. Based in Montigny-lès-Arsures near Arbois, the estate has been certified biodynamic since 2004 and is known for its deep commitment to terroir expression, natural methods, and precision. From oxidative whites to pet-nats and amphora-aged cuvées, the Tissots embrace experimentation without losing focus on tradition. The "Carbo" Trousseau offers a playful, fruit-driven counterpoint to their more structured reds—an accessible, joyful expression of Jura’s potential.
