2023 Domaine des Croix Beaune 1er Cru "Bressandes", Burgundy, France

Elegant, detailed, and quietly powerful, the 2023 Beaune 1er Cru "Bressandes" from Domaine des Croix captures the finesse and structure of one of Beaune’s finest premier cru sites. Aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and subtle spice lead into a finely layered palate with silky tannins, bright acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish. A refined and age-worthy Pinot Noir with true Côte de Beaune character.

ABOUT THIS WINE

“Bressandes” is one of Beaune’s most respected premier cru vineyards, located on the mid-slope with a southeast exposure and limestone-rich soils that give the wine both aromatic lift and structural depth. The 2023 vintage was marked by a long, even growing season, yielding fruit with excellent balance and purity.

Domaine des Croix farms organically and harvests by hand. Fermentation is done with native yeasts, often using a portion of whole clusters, followed by aging in French oak barrels, typically with a restrained use of new wood (20–30%) to allow the terroir to speak clearly.

The wine reveals layers of red fruit, floral notes, and a savory edge, with tension and refinement on the palate. It pairs beautifully with roasted duck, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes, and will reward 10–15 years of cellaring.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Domaine des Croix was founded in 2005 by American investor Roger Forbes and winemaker David Croix, formerly of Camille Giroud. Based in Beaune, the domaine focuses on premier and grand cru terroirs, working with old vines and a minimalist approach in both vineyard and cellar. Farming is organic, and winemaking emphasizes balance, transparency, and longevity. The Beaune 1er Cru “Bressandes” is a standout in the lineup—elegant, precise, and true to place.
