2023 Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Porets", Burgundy, France
The 2023 vintage brings a brighter, more lifted expression of Les Porets, with floral aromatics and silky texture balanced by underlying structure and minerality. Red cherry, wild strawberry, and hints of blood orange meet delicate spice and crushed stone. This is a more elegant and accessible take on a traditionally muscular terroir, finishing long and saline with precise, fine-grained tannins.

ABOUT THIS WINE
From a warmer vintage marked by generous ripeness and careful vineyard balance, the 2023 Les Porets-Saint-Georges walks a fine line between charm and structure. Sourced from a Premier Cru vineyard located at the southern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the wine benefits from deep, limestone-rich soils that lend natural tension and ageability.
Pinot Noir grapes were hand-harvested at optimal maturity and vinified with a portion of whole clusters to enhance aromatic lift and structure. Fermentation was carried out in open wooden vats, followed by aging for over a year in French oak barrels—approximately 30% new—adding texture without overpowering the wine’s mineral core.
The wine offers aromatic notes of rose petal, redcurrant, crushed herbs, and subtle spice. The palate is refined and energetic, with bright acidity and silky tannins complementing the ripe yet vibrant fruit. While already graceful in its youth, this wine will reward several years in the cellar. Ideal with roast duck, mushroom tart, or veal with a red wine jus.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825 and still family-run, is one of Burgundy’s most storied estates, known for its broad holdings and deep commitment to terroir expression. Under the leadership of Erwan Faiveley, the domaine has evolved toward greater elegance and precision in both viticulture and winemaking.
Farming practices across Faiveley's vineyards emphasize sustainability and increasing organic integration, with close attention to yield control and soil health. In the cellar, the approach has shifted toward gentler extraction and more restrained use of new oak, allowing each site to speak clearly.
In Les Porets, Faiveley showcases its ability to craft wines that marry the structured, earthy character of Nuits-Saint-Georges with a modern sense of finesse and clarity—especially evident in the poised and expressive 2023 vintage.
