ABOUT THE WINE
La Maltroie is a Premier Cru located just below the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, known for producing wines with both aromatic charm and structural depth. The 2023 vintage brought excellent ripeness and acidity, captured here through Fontaine-Gagnard’s restrained winemaking approach. Grapes are hand-harvested from sustainably farmed vineyards, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in French oak barrels—around 20–25% new—for roughly 12 months.
The wine shows layers of orchard fruit, lemon zest, crushed stones, and a subtle nutty character. It combines roundness with clarity, offering early appeal while also rewarding short- to mid-term cellaring.
