ABOUT THE WINE

Sous la Velle” is one of Meursault’s finest village-level lieux-dits, located just below the slope (sous la velle meaning “under the village”) where deep clay-limestone soils and a cooler microclimate contribute to the wine’s tension and clarity. In 2023, a relatively even and classic growing season allowed for optimal ripening, yielding fruit with freshness and balance.

The wine is sourced from mature vines and vinified using traditional Burgundian methods: gentle pressing, fermentation in French oak barrels (20–25% new), and aging on lees for 12–14 months. The result is a Meursault that combines richness with restraint—white orchard fruit, hints of brioche, citrus zest, and wet stone all in harmony.

Versatile and finely tuned, this cuvée pairs seamlessly with dishes like seared scallops, poulet à la crème, or aged Comté.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils is a family-run estate rooted in Chassagne-Montrachet since 1910, known for crafting expressive, terroir-reflective wines across both Chassagne and neighboring appellations like Meursault and Puligny. Now led by Thierry Amiot, the fourth generation, the domaine blends deep tradition with attentive, sustainable viticulture.

Their focus is on low yields, careful selection, and minimal intervention in the cellar. All vineyards are farmed using lutte raisonnée (reasoned viticulture), with increasing moves toward organic practices. Amiot’s white wines are prized for their balance between structure and elegance, and their ability to age gracefully.

With holdings in many of Burgundy’s top sites, the domaine continues to deliver authentic, mineral-driven wines that speak clearly of their origin, vintage, and the family behind them.
