ABOUT THE WINE
Passetoutgrains is one of Burgundy’s historic—but increasingly rare—field blends, traditionally composed of Gamay and Pinot Noir. D’Angerville’s 2023 version, made from estate-owned vines in the Côte d’Or, treats this humble appellation with the same care as its Premier Cru bottlings. The blend is typically around two-thirds Gamay to one-third Pinot Noir, co-fermented to enhance aromatic lift and textural integration.
The 2023 vintage brought freshness and vibrancy, ideal for this early-drinking style. Grapes were hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, with gentle extraction and no new oak. The result is a wine of purity, lifted aromatics, and a bright, linear frame.
On the nose, expect wild strawberry, cranberry, and crushed rose, with hints of pepper and forest floor. The palate is juicy and balanced, showing Gamay’s freshness and Pinot’s finesse. Light to medium-bodied, it’s versatile at the table—perfect with roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, or even a slight chill on a warm day.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Domaine Marquis d’Angerville, based in Volnay, is a name synonymous with integrity, terroir, and thoughtful stewardship. Under Guillaume d’Angerville’s leadership, the domaine has expanded beyond its Volnay roots to include select sites for Aligoté, Meursault, and this expressive Passetoutgrains. Certified biodynamic since 2006, the estate takes a hands-off, vineyard-first approach across all its wines.
Though known for serious, age-worthy reds and whites, d’Angerville’s Passetoutgrains proves that even the most modest appellations can shine when farmed and vinified with precision. It’s a wine of charm, clarity, and joyful drinkability—bringing together Burgundy’s two red grapes in harmony and offering a glimpse into the domaine’s holistic vision.
