ABOUT THIS WINE

The Renaissance-style "Castel Ringberg" estate, built by the Habsburg dynasty in 1620, overlooks Lake Caldaro and is nestled amidst the rolling greenery of its vineyard rows. The term "Vigna" denotes a specific geographical designation, referring to a single, strictly defined vineyard with precise cartographic boundaries. The estate—featuring terrain that ranges from gently rolling hills to steep slopes—lies at the intersection of three soil types at an elevation of 330 to 400 meters above sea level. To the west, the vineyard is bordered by the dolomite rock of the Mendola range, where steep slopes are composed of scree deposits from the Adige River dating back 30,000 years. In the central and southern areas, the largest sections consist of light, limestone-rich soils that ensure excellent root aeration. The moderating influence of Lake Caldaro, combined with strong afternoon winds, creates a dry microclimate that allows for viticultural practices deeply respectful of nature. These unique geological features, together with the breezy microclimate, yield mineral-rich wines of great elegance and refinement.

The 2024 vintage stands out for its excellent quality. The harvest was marked by significant climatic challenges, as the spring and early summer were quite rainy and more humid than usual. Consequently, vineyard management was demanding, requiring considerable effort and dedication. From mid-July onwards, warm weather and beautiful sunny days fostered excellent grape ripening; significant temperature fluctuations—particularly from late August onwards—helped preserve acidity and aromas. Overall, while the harvest volume was lower, the quality is outstanding.

This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The winemaker utilized static settling of the must. A portion ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 19°C and remains on the lees until spring. The remaining portion (approx. 40%) ferments in large oak casks and barriques. Blending takes place shortly before bottling, followed by bottle maturation.
