2023 Jean-Marc Roulot Meursault “Les Clous”, Burgundy, France
Tensile, luminous, and impeccably balanced, the 2023 “Les Clous” is a hallmark expression of Jean-Marc Roulot’s Meursault—focused more on clarity and mineral drive than on richness. Delicate aromas of lemon oil, green apple, white flowers, and crushed stone rise from the glass, leading into a precise palate layered with citrus zest, orchard fruit, and a saline, chalky core. The finish is long, linear, and quietly powerful.

ABOUT THIS WINE
“Les Clous” is a lieu-dit situated high on the hillside above the village of Meursault, just west of the Premier Cru Les Tillets, where the cooler microclimate and limestone-rich soils contribute to the wine’s brisk acidity and mineral character. In the 2023 vintage—marked by freshness and balance—Roulot’s “Les Clous” shines with poise and lift.
Organically farmed and hand-harvested, the grapes are pressed gently and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels (15–20% new). Aged for 12–15 months on fine lees without bâtonnage, the wine is then settled in tank before bottling to refine its crystalline texture. “Les Clous” often shows more cut and verticality than other Meursault lieux-dits, making it a favorite among those who prefer precision over opulence. Ideal with oysters, poached white fish, or a delicate vegetable terrine.
