ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
The Language of Yes is a California wine project from Randall Grahm, the founder of Bonny Doon Vineyards, and one of the pioneers of Rhône varieties in California. The project explores how Mediterranean grapes can find their own identity on California’s Central Coast. The name is inspired by La Langue d’Oc, the language of southern France, reflecting Grahm’s fascination with the region while emphasizing interpretation rather than imitation.
The project focuses on varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut, and Tibouren, with an emphasis on vineyard expression, freshness, and savory complexity. Grahm takes a thoughtful, experimental approach in the cellar, incorporating techniques such as whole-cluster fermentation and passerillage, allowing harvested grapes to partially dry before fermentation. Intervention is restrained, with the goal of preserving the character of the fruit and vineyard rather than shaping the wines through heavy extraction.
