ABOUT THE WINE

Crafted from Talley Vineyards’ estate vineyards on California’s cool San Luis Obispo Coast, the 2023 Estate Pinot Noir reflects the region’s maritime influence and distinctive calcareous clay and shaly-loam soils. Aromas of Bing cherry, strawberry, cardamom, and resin lead into flavors of cranberry, rich raspberry, flint, and forest floor. Bright and vibrant, the finish balances lively red fruit with savory, mineral nuances.

The grapes are SIP Certified sustainably grown and hand-harvested at night. Fermentation takes place in small open-top bins with native yeast, using 85% destemmed fruit and 15% whole clusters. The wine ages for 14 months in French oak barrels, 23% of them new, and is bottled without fining or filtration. It is vegan. Enjoy it with wild Pacific salmon, roast poultry, or a wild mushroom and lentil ragout.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Talley Vineyards is a family-owned winery with a four-generation farming legacy in California’s San Luis Obispo Coast. Based in the Arroyo Grande Valley, the family began making Pinot Noir in 1986, helping demonstrate the area’s potential for this expressive, cool-climate variety.

Talley’s coastal vineyards benefit from ocean influence and varied soils, while careful vineyard stewardship and a measured approach in the cellar keep freshness, structure, and site character at the forefront. The estate is especially known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that combine delicate fruit, natural energy, and savory complexity.
