ABOUT THIS WINE
“Evangelho Vineyard” comes from one of California's most historic Zinfandel sites, planted in 1869 on the sandy soils of Oakley in Contra Costa County. The vineyard's own-rooted, head-trained vines are planted in deep, windblown sand, which naturally limits vigor and yields while allowing the vines to produce remarkably concentrated yet elegant fruit.
The vineyard is farmed organically, with Turley placing particular emphasis on preserving these ancient vines and the unique ecosystem surrounding them. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, with gentle extraction designed to preserve the perfume and natural freshness of old-vine Zinfandel. Aging in neutral French oak allows the wine to develop texture and complexity without masking the character of the vineyard.
