2023 Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo "Perbacco", Piedmont, Italy
Lovely aromas of spiced cherries, cranberries, fresh raspberries, black cherry, violet, and dried rose petals, complemented by notes of mint, white pepper, chalk, dusty earth, orange peel, and subtle sweet spices. Medium-bodied on the palate, with bright, crisp acidity, fine-grained yet firm tannins, and savory depth.
ABOUT THE WINE
Vietti’s 2023 Perbacco is made from 100% Nebbiolo, sourced from selected vineyard parcels primarily in the Barolo and Barbaresco areas. The lots are fermented separately, then undergo malolactic fermentation before aging for approximately 18 to 20 months in a combination of barriques and large oak casks. The wine is blended in stainless steel before bottling.
Fragrant notes of raspberry, red currant, mint and spice lead to a focused palate with round, elegant tannins and a long, refined finish. Perbacco offers the character and structure of Nebbiolo in a versatile Langhe expression. Pair with braised meats, mushroom dishes, game or aged cheeses.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Vietti is one of Barolo’s most storied estates, with a legacy that dates back to the 19th century and a reputation for pioneering cru-based bottlings. Based in Castiglione Falletto, the winery has been instrumental in elevating the profile of single-vineyard Barolos, notably under the guidance of winemaker Luca Currado Vietti.
Farming is sustainable, with a deep respect for biodiversity and minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. Vietti’s wines are known for their precision, balance, and expressive terroir character, blending tradition with innovation. Their commitment to low yields, extended aging, and meticulous site selection places them at the forefront of Barolo’s modern classicists.
