2024 Âmevive Wine "Sundrop", Santa Barbara, California, USA

Bright, textural, and playfully complex, the 2024 Sundrop from Âmevive captures the radiant spirit of California sunshine through a skin-contact white of elegance and edge. Aromas of tangerine peel, chamomile, stone fruit, and white tea leap from the glass, while the palate is vibrant and gently grippy, with layers of citrus oil, dried herbs, and saline minerality. Zesty yet grounded, it finishes clean, with a pithy, mouthwatering lift.

ABOUT THE WINE

The 2024 Sundrop is a skin-contact white blend composed primarily of Albariño, Verdelho, and Chenin Blanc, sourced from organically and regeneratively farmed vineyards across Santa Barbara County—including Âmevive’s home site at the historic Ibarra-Young Vineyard. Fermented with native yeasts and macerated on the skins for up to three weeks, the wine was aged in neutral oak and bottled unfined, unfiltered, with minimal sulfur. The result is a fresh, textural wine that defies category: orange in color but white in spirit. It brims with notes of citrus zest, apricot skin, almond, and dried flowers, with a chalky structure and bracing acidity. Pair it with spiced Moroccan dishes, grilled peach salad, or soft cheeses with herbal rind.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Âmevive—meaning “soulful living”—is the vision of Alice Anderson, who farms and makes wine with a deep reverence for land and community. Based at the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in Los Olivos District, she employs regenerative, no-till farming, integrating animals, cover crops, and polyculture to build soil health and biodiversity. In the cellar, Alice works with native fermentations, avoids additives, and bottles with little or no sulfur, creating wines that are raw, expressive, and alive. Âmevive’s style merges minimal intervention with thoughtful precision, often highlighting lesser-known varieties, experimental blends, and skin-contact whites like Sundrop, all rooted in a commitment to sustainability and soulful connection to place.
