2024 Domaine Morey-Coffinet Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge, Burgundy, France
Notes of red cherry, cranberry, dark raspberry, rose petal, subtle earth, and a touch of nuttiness/reduction in its youth. Lively and fruit-driven with good energy, brisk or precise acidity, fine and soft tannins, and a clean, lightly austere, persistent finish

ABOUT THIS WINE
This Bourgogne Rouge is sourced from a 0.81-hectare parcel in the Côte d'Or with older vines planted in 1968 and 1978. The soils here are deep, compact clay mixed with limestone flecks, and are farmed both organically and biodynamically, emphasizing minimal intervention and natural vineyard balance.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine Morey-Coffinet is a family-run Burgundy estate based in Chassagne-Montrachet, on the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1980 by Michel Morey and Fabienne Coffinet, it brings together vineyards from both families. Their son Thibault joined the domaine in 2000 and now helps shape its direction.
The estate farms about nine hectares, mostly Chardonnay, with some Pinot Noir. Its holdings include Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru sites such as La Romanée, Dent de Chien, and Blanchot-Dessus, as well as Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. It also makes wines from other Côte de Beaune appellations.
The domaine has moved toward more hands-on, low-impact farming: it stopped using herbicides in 2002, received organic certification in 2018, and has been incorporating biodynamic practices since 2015. In the cellar, it says it aims for minimal intervention and a clear expression of each vineyard, aging wines in oak barrels as well as some amphorae and egg-shaped vessels
