ABOUT THE WINE
Les Mourres is Domaine Notre Dame des Pallières’ expressive Gigondas, blended from 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah. The vines grow on southwest-facing slopes in the little Trignon valley, where airy, cool nights help temper the warmth of the southern Rhône. Poor, well-drained limestone-gravel soils encourage concentration while preserving freshness.
Old-vine parcels are harvested mainly by hand. Approximately 80% of the fruit is destemmed before more than 30 days of temperature-controlled maceration, with pumpovers and délestage. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures principally in concrete rather than small new oak barrels. Aromas of ripe blackberry, cherry and warm spice lead into a concentrated yet supple palate with a touch of candied fruit and a long, firmly structured finish. Pair with herb-roasted lamb, rabbit with garrigue herbs or a slow-cooked stew.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Notre Dame des Pallières is a family-run domaine rooted in Gigondas, where the estate’s name evokes the area’s long local history. The family farms vineyards across Gigondas and neighboring southern Rhône appellations, including Sablet and Rasteau. Working primarily with the region’s traditional varieties, the domaine adapts its vinification and maturation to each cuvée, favoring clear expression of the Rhône’s sunlit slopes and contrasting soils.
