2024 Domaine Ostertag "Vielles Vignes," Sylvaner, Alsace, France
A beautifully textured old-vine Sylvaner with apple, white peach, citrus peel and delicate waxy notes. Dry and quietly concentrated, its supple, almost creamy midpalate meets bright acidity and a long, saline-mineral finish.

ABOUT THE WINE
Ostertag's 2024 Vieilles Vignes de Sylvaner demonstrates the depth this often-overlooked Alsatian grape can achieve. Sourced from old vines rooted in varied loess, marl and sandstone soils, including parcels approaching 85 years of age, it offers apple, citrus and white-peach notes with a subtle waxy character. The palate is concentrated yet poised: creamy texture, pithy freshness and a distinctly saline finish.
The vines are farmed biodynamically. Hand-harvested whole clusters are gently pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for approximately a year on fine lees in stainless steel. That extended lees contact helps explain the wine's depth without obscuring its refreshing line. Serve with seafood, freshwater fish or delicate Alsatian dishes.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Based in Epfig in Alsace, Domaine Ostertag was founded by the family in the 1960s and became known for expressive, site-sensitive wines under André Ostertag. Long committed to biodynamic cultivation, the estate treats vineyard individuality and careful cellar work as inseparable. Arthur Ostertag now carries the family work forward, making wines distinguished by texture, energy and a clear sense of place.
