2024 Gönc Winery "Little One", Štajerska, Slovenia
A playful, bright, and texturally intriguing field blend that defies convention, “Little One” is Gönc Winery’s expression of youthful energy and Slovenian terroir. Wild aromatics of alpine herbs, stone fruit, and citrus zest leap from the glass, met by juicy acidity and a silken, subtly waxy texture. The palate offers yellow apple, pear skin, and a twist of tangerine, finishing clean with a mineral snap and echo of wildflowers.

ABOUT THE WINE
“Little One” is a Pinot Blanc—harvested from hillside vineyards in the cooler reaches of Štajerska, northeastern Slovenia. The grapes are hand-picked and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts, followed by aging in stainless steel to preserve freshness and transparency. No fining, filtration, or additions beyond a minimal touch of sulfur. The wine’s distinct freshness and gentle phenolic grip come from a short period of skin contact and a thoughtful hands-off approach in the cellar.
This is a wine that speaks to the wild, green edges of Slovenia: mountain breezes, forested slopes, and mineral-rich soils. It pairs well with soft cheeses, herbed chicken, grilled trout, or simply as an apéritif with good conversation.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Gönc Winery is a dynamic, family-run estate led by the irreverent and passionate Peter Gönc, who has become a cult figure in natural wine circles. Based in the heart of Štajerska, the winery is named after the traditional 136-liter Hungarian barrel once used in the region. Gönc practices organic farming across all their vineyards, with a deep respect for biodiversity, soil health, and minimal intervention winemaking. Their wines are known for their energy, approachability, and labels that often feature playful or personal artwork—a reflection of Peter’s ethos: wine should be alive, expressive, and never boring.
