ABOUT THIS WINE

Produced from a blend of Alsatian grape varieties, the 2024 “Le Même Azimut” combines approximately 40% Riesling, 40% Gewürztraminer, 10% Pinot Blanc, and 10% Muscat. The grapes are sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Alsace and crafted by Alice and Olivier De Moor under their Le Vendangeur Masqué label. Riesling is direct-pressed and fermented in previously used oak barrels, while the other varieties undergo whole-cluster skin maceration for approximately 15 days, contributing aromatic complexity, gentle grip, and texture. The wine is then aged for around 11 months in used barrels before bottling. The result is a dry, aromatic white that balances the floral and spice-driven character of Gewürztraminer and Muscat with Riesling's bright acidity and the delicate texture of Pinot Blanc.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Alice and Olivier De Moor are highly regarded winemakers based in Courgis, in the Chablis region of Burgundy, known for their organic viticulture and transparent, terroir-focused approach to winemaking. Alongside their domaine wines, they established Le Vendangeur Masqué in 2009 as a small négociant project, allowing them to work with organically farmed grapes sourced from other growers who share their philosophy. This project gives the couple the freedom to explore different regions and grape varieties while applying the same careful cellar practices used for their Chablis wines, including indigenous-yeast fermentation, restrained intervention, and patient aging. “Le Même Azimut” is a distinctive example of this approach, bringing Alsatian varieties into the hands of Burgundian winemakers to create a lively, aromatic, and textural white wine that emphasizes freshness, individuality, and drinkability.
