2024 Luigi Bosca "De Sangre" Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina
A classic, polished expression of Malbec from Luján de Cuyo, combining Mendoza’s generous fruit with freshness, structure, and beautifully integrated oak. Aromas of ripe cherry, plum, strawberry, violet, and sweet spice are layered with subtle roasted coffee and toast. The palate is rounded and concentrated, with juicy red fruit, balanced acidity, and firm yet refined tannins. Twelve months in oak adds depth without overwhelming the fruit, leading to a long, compact, gently smoky finish.

ABOUT THE WINE
The 2024 De Sangre is 100% Malbec and carries the Luján de Cuyo D.O.C., one of Argentina’s most historically significant appellations for the variety. Fruit is selected from vineyard parcels in Las Compuertas, Vistalba, and Agrelo, with the winery's 2024 technical sheet citing an average elevation of approximately 800 meters. These established growing areas along the Mendoza River combine intense sunlight, dry conditions, and significant temperature shifts between day and night, helping Malbec achieve full flavor development while retaining freshness.
The wine is matured for 12 months in oak barrels, bringing spice and gentle roasted tones to Malbec's naturally exuberant fruit while rounding its tannic structure. Winemaker Pablo Cúneo aims for a style that balances ripeness with definition: fresh plum and strawberry are joined by spice and subtle toast, followed by a broad, flavorful palate with firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a persistent finish.
The name De Sangre has deep roots within the Arizu family. For more than 125 years and four generations, it has been used to identify special cuvées selected by the family to share with those closest to them. The Malbec is particularly important historically: the bottling is made according to the regulations of the Luján de Cuyo D.O.C., reinforcing the connection between Malbec and one of its foundational Argentine terroirs.
Serve at approximately 60–64°F (16–18°C), with a short decant if drinking young. Its combination of fruit, tannin, and savory oak makes it a natural match for grilled steak, lamb, slow-roasted beef, game, empanadas, mushrooms, or firm aged cheeses. The structure also gives it the potential to develop additional savory and earthy complexity with bottle age.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Luigi Bosca is one of Argentina’s historic family-owned wine producers, with the Arizu family’s winemaking tradition spanning four generations. Established in Mendoza, the family has played an important role in advancing the identity of Argentine fine wine and, in particular, in championing Malbec as a grape capable of expressing individual vineyard origins rather than simply producing generous varietal wines.
A particularly important part of that legacy is the family's connection to the development of the Luján de Cuyo D.O.C. De Sangre Malbec is produced under its strict protocol and represents the estate's commitment to preserving the historical identity of Malbec in this part of Mendoza. The De Sangre collection itself is intended to highlight selected vineyards and distinctive terroirs while maintaining the recognizable house style of concentration, freshness, and polished structure.
Today, under the winemaking direction of Pablo Cúneo, Luigi Bosca continues to combine its long family heritage with detailed vineyard selection and contemporary precision in the cellar. The 2024 De Sangre Malbec embodies that philosophy particularly well: deeply rooted in traditional Mendoza Malbec, but shaped with enough freshness and restraint to emphasize origin, balance, and longevity rather than sheer power.
