2024 Raul Perez "Ultreia" Godello, Bierzo, Spain
The 2024 Raúl Pérez “Ultreia” Godello is a beautifully expressive and mineral-driven white wine from Bierzo, offering aromas of lemon zest, green apple, white peach, and pear layered with notes of white flowers, fresh herbs, and crushed stone. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, balancing ripe orchard fruit with refreshing acidity and a subtle, rounded richness. Hints of citrus peel, saline minerality, and delicate herbal complexity carry through to a long, focused finish. Combining the freshness of Atlantic-influenced viticulture with the texture and depth of Godello, this wine showcases the distinctive character of northwestern Spain’s increasingly celebrated white wines.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Produced from 100% Godello, the 2024 “Ultreia” is sourced from vineyards around Valtuille de Abajo and Cacabelos in Bierzo, where the combination of clay, sandy soils, and slate influences contributes both texture and mineral complexity. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand before gentle pressing and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes a slow fermentation, with a portion fermented in used oak barrels and larger wooden vessels, followed by approximately 12 months of aging. This approach builds richness and depth while preserving the natural freshness of Godello. The 2024 vintage displays ripe yellow apple, pear, citrus, and stone-fruit flavors, complemented by subtle floral, herbal, and smoky notes. Its rounded texture and lively acidity lead to a long, dry finish with a distinctive chalky mineral character.
