ABOUT THE WINE

The 2024 Textbook Merlot is a polished Napa Valley blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. Separate lots from Napa sub-appellations bring together ripe fruit and structure, while 14 months in French oak (30% new) adds subtle spice without overwhelming the wine.

Aromas of ripe blackberry and dark cherry lead into raspberry, cocoa, and gentle spice. The palate is silky and rounded, with supple tannins and balanced acidity. Pair with braised short ribs, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, or aged hard cheeses.

Textbook Wines was created by the Pey family around the idea that Napa Valley fruit can combine regional richness with the restraint and balance associated with classic European wines. Winemaker Abigail Estrada works with fruit from varied Napa sites, including Oak Knoll, St. Helena, and Atlas Peak, to create expressive wines with a clear sense of place.
