2025 Elena Walch Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige, Italy

ABOUT THIS WINE

100% Pinot Grigio, sourced from steep vineyards with southeast and southwest exposures ranging from roughly 250–900 meters (820–2,950 feet) in elevation. The soils are primarily calcareous, mixed with clay, sand, and porphyry. This broad range of elevations combines warmer sites with cooler mountain vineyards, helping give the wine both ripe fruit and bright acidity. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand.

The 2025 harvest began early on August 27th and concluded just over a month later. After relatively early flowering, a warm and dry June was followed by a markedly cooler July, which played an important role in preserving the natural freshness and acidity of the grapes. August provided ideal ripening conditions, and despite a September alternating between sunshine and occasional rainfall towards the end of harvest, the grapes reached our cellar in excellent health and optimum balance.

After harvest, the grapes are gently crushed and pressed, and the must undergoes cool static clarification. Fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel at approximately 20°C (68°F). The wine then remains in stainless steel for several months on its fine lees, adding some texture and body without introducing oak flavors.
