ABOUT THE WINE

Garofoli’s 2025 Macrina is a 100% Verdicchio from the Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore zone in Marche. The vineyards are located around Montecarotto at 250 to 400 meters above sea level, on clay soils rich in fossil shells. Fermentation uses selected yeasts, with no malolactic fermentation; the wine rests for five months in stainless steel and concrete vats, followed by a short period of bottle aging.

Fresh and savory, Macrina shows the bright acidity and subtle almond-like character associated with Verdicchio, with a clean, mineral finish. Its balance and freshness make it an excellent match for seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, risotto and fresh cheeses.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Garofoli is a long-established, family-run wine producer in Italy’s Marche region. Its roots go back to 1871, when Antonio Garofoli began making and selling local wine; the family later formalized the winery under Gioacchino Garofoli. Today, the winery combines generations of experience with modern winemaking. The range is best known for Verdicchio, Marche’s signature white grape, including wines from the Castelli di Jesi area. Garofoli also makes reds from the Conero area, along with rosé and sparkling wines. Its production spans sites in Serra de’ Conti and Castelfidardo, reflecting the different grape-growing areas of the region.
