2025 Lubanzi "Anomalous," Pinotage, Western Cape, South Africa
A playful, light-footed Pinotage showing fresh raspberry and bright citrus notes rather than the grape's usual richness. Carbonic fermentation gives it juicy fruit, soft texture and lively acidity, with a clean, refreshing finish that's ideal served slightly chilled.

ABOUT THE WINE
The 2025 Lubanzi Anomalous is a distinctly fresh take on South Africa's signature Pinotage. Grown on high-altitude, dry-farmed bush vines in Citrusdalberg in the Olifants River Valley, the fruit comes from decomposed granite and shale soils. Carbonic fermentation emphasizes raspberry and citrus notes, bright fruit and a juicy, light-footed feel over weight or heavy extraction. At 12% alcohol, it is a lively red to enjoy lightly chilled.
Made from 100% Pinotage grown organically, with minimal sulfur, Anomalous is a tiny release of approximately 110 cases. Its praying-mantis label references a Khoi San symbol of transformation—a fitting emblem for a wine that reimagines Pinotage's familiar profile. Try it with grilled vegetables, charcuterie or casual outdoor meals.
