2025 Ridge "Coast Range" Red Blend, California, USA
Bright and lively, Ridge’s 2025 Coast Range combines cranberry, hibiscus and blood-orange aromas with juicy boysenberry, pomegranate and a touch of vanilla. Light to medium in body, it has supple texture, refreshing acidity and a vibrant, fruit-driven finish.
ABOUT THE WINE
Ridge’s 2025 Coast Range is a fresh, fruit-forward California red composed of 59% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 13% Petite Sirah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the fruit comes from Sonoma County, with additional vineyards in Contra Costa, Santa Cruz and Napa; the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Fredson Ranch in Alexander Valley. The generous 2025 harvest offered an opportunity to craft this approachable multi-region blend.
Hand-harvested between August and October, the grapes underwent native-yeast fermentation and natural malolactic fermentation before nine months in air-dried American oak barrels, only 10% new. Hibiscus, cranberry, blood orange and black tea introduce a lively palate of boysenberry, pomegranate and subtle vanilla. Light to medium-bodied, with supple texture and playful acidity, it is especially appealing slightly chilled and pairs well with grilled sausages, roast chicken or casual weeknight fare.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Ridge Vineyards’ modern story began in 1962 with its first Monte Bello wine in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains. The winery soon became a benchmark for site-driven Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Paul Draper joining in 1969 and helping establish its reputation for traditional, minimally interventionist winemaking. Ridge champions native fermentations, transparent ingredient labeling and careful vineyard stewardship. Its estate holdings include organically certified vineyards, although that certification should not be assumed for every source vineyard in a blended wine.
