ABOUT THIS WINE
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Weingut Borell-Diehl is a family-run estate in Hainfeld, in Germany’s sunny Pfalz region, where generations of winemaking tradition meet a fresh, modern approach. Today, the next generation is helping lead the winery forward, crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines from a diverse patchwork of limestone, sandstone, and loess soils. Known especially for Riesling and Pinot varieties, Borell-Diehl’s wines balance generous fruit with vibrant freshness and mineral character. Thoughtful farming, careful cellar work, and exceptional value make this an exciting estate that beautifully captures the approachable, energetic spirit of the Pfalz.
The winery in its modern form dates to 1990, when Annette Borell and Thomas Diehl married and combined their families’ three wine estates. The Borell family’s roots in Hainfeld, however, stretch back for generations, and the historic timber-framed family home dates to 1619. Georg Diehl, Annette and Thomas’s son, have taken over leadership after gaining experience with highly regarded German producers including Rebholz, Wittmann, and Von Volxem, as well as completing an internship in New Zealand.
