ABOUT THIS WINE
Chaos Theory began as a one-off blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel that David created for their first participation in the annual Premiere Napa Valley trade auction. It made such a splash he went back to the cellar to dial in the details so we could make it a permanent part of our lineup. Over the years this proprietary red has become a shape-shifter, each vintage its own unique blend. Such is our journey through the world of wine — a constant adventure that reminds us year in and year out that no matter how random or chaotic things may seem, amidst the mayhem there is reason, if not always rhyme.
Chaos Theory is blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Petite Sirah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Zinfandel. The Merlot is sourced from Dollar Ranch while the remaining fruit is from Brown Estate in Napa Valley. The wine is aged for 12 months in 30% new oak, 50/50 French/American.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
We established the Brown Estate label officially in 1996 when we harvested what would become our first bottling of Brown Zin. In January 2000 we debuted our first three vintages at the annual ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates & Producers) Grand Tasting in San Francisco. Fast forward to August 2021… when we bottled our 25th vintage.
In the meantime our business has grown slowly but surely as our brand has gained increasingly broad exposure to an extraordinarily diverse audience thanks to word of mouth IRL and on social media. To make our wines and hospitality experience more accessible, in April 2017 we opened our Brown Downtown tasting room on the resurgent First Street corridor in the heart of downtown Napa.
