2000 Château Latour Premier Cru Classé Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
The 2000 Château Latour is a truly exceptional wine, showcasing the extraordinary power and elegance that this legendary estate is known for. The nose is complex and intense, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and cassis, harmoniously interwoven with notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle hints of leather and spice. As the wine opens, additional layers of earthy minerality, dark chocolate, and a touch of smoke emerge, adding further depth and complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and remarkably structured, with firm yet velvety tannins that support the deep, concentrated fruit. The richness of the dark fruit is balanced by a fine acidity and a refined, almost seamless texture. The finish is long, powerful, and persistent, with lingering flavors of graphite, dark chocolate, and a refined minerality that reflects its Pauillac terroir. The 2000 vintage is already in a beautiful drinking window but will continue to evolve over the next few decades, gaining additional complexity and finesse with age.

ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2000 vintage of Château Latour was crafted from a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, with the majority of the wine driven by the signature Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its depth and structure. After hand-harvesting, the grapes were meticulously sorted and fermented in stainless-steel vats. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, followed by an extensive aging period of 18 months in 100% new French oak. The 2000 vintage was marked by exceptional growing conditions, with a warm summer followed by cool nights that allowed for slow, even ripening of the grapes, resulting in a wine with both concentration and freshness. This vintage is a perfect example of Château Latour’s ability to create wines with extraordinary aging potential, combining power, balance, and finesse.
