2019 Château Mouton-Rothschild Premier Cru Classé Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
The 2019 Château Mouton-Rothschild is an extraordinary wine, showcasing the estate’s signature combination of power, finesse, and complexity. The nose is an elegant bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark plum, with hints of violet, rose petal, and a touch of minty freshness. As the wine opens up, deeper layers of graphite, cigar box, tobacco, and toasted oak emerge, adding further depth and intrigue. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with a seamless texture and finely integrated tannins that provide a backbone of strength while maintaining an overall sense of refinement. The rich, dark fruit flavors are complemented by subtle notes of chocolate, spice, and earthy undertones. The wine’s freshness is beautifully balanced by its concentrated fruit, and a delicate minerality runs through the mid-palate, adding precision and definition. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with lingering flavors of dark fruit, cocoa, and a fine, mineral edge that reflects its Pauillac terroir. While already highly appealing, this wine has the structure and balance to age gracefully for decades.

ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2019 Château Mouton-Rothschild is crafted from a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, with Cabernet Sauvignon dominating the blend to impart the wine’s hallmark structure and aging potential. The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels and was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. The growing season for 2019 was marked by optimal weather conditions, with a warm, dry summer followed by cooler nights, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, preserving freshness and acidity while developing deep, concentrated flavors. The result is a wine of incredible balance, with the depth and intensity expected from Mouton-Rothschild, along with a level of finesse that is sure to reward long-term aging.
