A fruit-sweet Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel from Graacher Himmelreich, with peach and nectarine notes, an intense yet balanced palate and elegant acidity. This 2006 release is presented in a 375 mL half bottle.
ABOUT THE WINE
This bottling brings together the 2006 vintage, the Graacher Himmelreich vineyard and Joh. Jos. Prüm’s Auslese Goldkapsel selection. It is a fruit-sweet Riesling from the Mosel, presented here in a 375 mL half bottle. The named vineyard and Auslese Goldkapsel selection place this wine within the estate’s range of site-specific Rieslings.
Peach and nectarine aromas lead into an intense but balanced sweet palate, supported by elegant acidity. That combination favors a measured pairing such as blue cheese or a fruit-based dessert with restrained sweetness.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911 in Bernkastel-Wehlen on Germany’s Mosel. Riesling is its focus, with holdings in vineyards including Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich and Bernkasteler Badstube.
Dr. Manfred Prüm and his daughter Dr. Katharina Prüm are identified by the estate’s exporter as the family owners. Old vines, many on their own roots, and Devonian slate soils form the foundation of the wines. The house is known for balancing fruit concentration, mineral character and lively Riesling acidity, allowing each vineyard and selection to retain its identity.
