2020 Château Mouton-Rothschild Premier Cru Classé Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
The 2020 Château Mouton-Rothschild is an exceptional wine that blends power and elegance in perfect harmony, showcasing the estate’s signature style. The nose is complex and immediately captivating, offering a rich bouquet of dark fruit—blackberries, blackcurrant, and ripe plums—intertwined with delicate floral notes of violet and a touch of wild herbs. The wine’s aromatic profile evolves with time, revealing deeper layers of tobacco, graphite, cedar, and a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and beautifully structured, with polished tannins and a velvety texture that provides a seamless mouthfeel. The dark fruit is vibrant and concentrated, balanced by fresh acidity and a fine minerality that underpins the richness. The oak is masterfully integrated, contributing subtle notes of spice, vanilla, and toasted almond. The finish is long, persistent, and incredibly refined, with lingering flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and a mineral edge that showcases the Pauillac terroir. While already approachable, the 2020 Mouton-Rothschild has the potential to evolve beautifully over the next few decades.

ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2020 Château Mouton-Rothschild is crafted from a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, reflecting the dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, which thrives in the Pauillac terroir. The grapes were hand-harvested and rigorously sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel and was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels, imparting a deep layer of complexity and structure. The 2020 vintage benefited from optimal growing conditions, with a warm, dry summer and cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen evenly and preserve their freshness. The result is a wine with a perfect balance of power, precision, and elegance, with remarkable aging potential.
