ABOUT THE WINE
The 2020 vintage of Mas La Plana is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced exclusively from a small, 29-hectare vineyard of the same name at the foot of the Montserrat mountains in Upper Penedès. This site, first planted in the 1960s, was a bold experiment by Miguel A. Torres—introducing Cabernet to a region traditionally dominated by indigenous varieties. Today, these old vines rooted in poor, gravelly soils yield low but intensely concentrated fruit.

Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (85% new), the wine achieves a finely integrated structure, balancing richness and freshness. Aromatically, it opens with cassis, dark cherry, and crushed violets, evolving with time in the glass into more savory and tertiary elements—tobacco leaf, pencil shavings, and forest floor. The wine is vinified with a meticulous approach: hand-harvested, gravity-fed, and fermented with precision to preserve varietal purity and site expression.

Mas La Plana is a wine of pedigree and cellar-worthiness, ideal with grilled lamb, aged Manchego, or hearty mushroom dishes. It exemplifies Torres’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and site expression.
