ABOUT THE WINE

The 2023 Oregogne Chardonnay is sourced from select vineyards throughout Oregon's acclaimed Willamette Valley, a region celebrated for producing world-class cool-climate Chardonnay. Influenced by marine sediments, volcanic soils, and a long, temperate growing season, the vineyards yield fruit with exceptional freshness, complexity, and natural balance.

The wine opens with expressive aromas of Meyer lemon, crisp apple, white peach, pear, citrus blossom, and subtle floral notes layered over delicate hints of hazelnut, vanilla, and flinty minerality. On the palate, vibrant citrus and orchard fruit are framed by a creamy texture, lively acidity, and restrained oak influence, creating a wine that is both approachable in its youth and capable of developing additional complexity over several years.

Fruit is hand-harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed before fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation and aging on the lees enhance texture and complexity while preserving the wine's freshness and energetic character. The careful use of oak adds subtle spice and richness without overshadowing the purity of the fruit or the distinctive expression of the Willamette Valley.

Food Pairings: Roasted chicken, grilled salmon, lobster, crab cakes, mushroom risotto, creamy pasta dishes, pork tenderloin, triple-cream cheeses, or roasted vegetables with herbs.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Maison Noir Wines was founded in 2007 by acclaimed winemaker André Hueston Mack, whose innovative vision blends exceptional winemaking with a fresh, approachable perspective. After a distinguished career as a sommelier at New York City's renowned Per Se, Mack established Maison Noir to create wines that are expressive, authentic, and free from convention.

Working with sustainably farmed vineyards across Oregon and Washington, Maison Noir emphasizes thoughtful farming, minimal intervention, and meticulous winemaking that allows each vineyard site to speak clearly. The winery's philosophy centers on producing balanced, terroir-driven wines that combine precision with personality.

Oregogne reflects this philosophy perfectly. Its name playfully references Burgundy while celebrating Oregon's emergence as one of the world's premier Chardonnay regions. The result is a sophisticated, food-friendly Chardonnay that delivers elegance, freshness, and a distinctly Pacific Northwest identity.
