Sourced from the famed Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley—where Syrah thrives on marine-influenced, wind-swept slopes—this cuvée reflects Piedrasassi’s restrained, Rhône-inspired approach. The fruit was harvested early for freshness and whole-cluster fermented with native yeasts, followed by aging in large, neutral French oak barrels to preserve detail and transparency.
The 2021 vintage was cool and steady, yielding a wine of focus, aromatic lift, and structural integrity. Earth, spice, and floral complexity take precedence over fruit weight, with a savory profile reminiscent of northern Rhône Syrah. Piedrasassi is the project of winemaker and baker Sashi Moorman, who is known for his minimalist, site-driven wines and dedication to old-world techniques.
