ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2021 Restanques de Pibarnon is a hillside Bandol red made from 70% Mourvèdre and 30% Grenache. Les Restanques comes from younger vines rooted in the same limestone-and-clay terroir as Château de Pibarnon’s flagship vineyards, giving the wine a more pronounced Grenache character while retaining the structure and freshness of Bandol. The grapes are partially destemmed, fermented in vats with daily punch-downs and careful temperature control, then aged for 18 months in large oak casks.
Fragrant and finely structured, the wine layers dark fruit and sweet spice with ripe, savory herbal notes. Its texture is delicate and airy, with fine tannins and a long, graceful finish. The 1.5L magnum is an especially appealing format for the table and for further cellaring. Pair with grilled lamb, roast pork, veal, or other richly flavored meats.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Château de Pibarnon was acquired by Catherine and Henri de Saint Victor in 1977, after they discovered the estate’s wines while visiting Bandol. Set high above the Mediterranean, the property is known for its terraced hillside vineyards, limestone-rich soils and cool nights, which encourage slow ripening and aromatic complexity. The estate farms organically, certified since 2019, and incorporates biodynamic practices in its vineyard work.
