2022 Damilano "Lecinquevigne" Barolo, Piedmont, Italy - 3L
Dried cherry, rose, violet and savory spice unfold over a broad Nebbiolo palate. Firm, ripe tannins and refreshing balance carry a long finish in Damilano’s five-vineyard Barolo blend, presented here in a 3 L bottle.
ABOUT THE WINE
Lecinquevigne takes its name from the five vineyards that supply its Nebbiolo. This 2022 Barolo is made entirely from the variety, expressing the floral perfume, savory detail and tannin structure that distinguish the appellation. The producer describes temperature-controlled fermentation lasting around fifteen days. The importer records twenty-four months in large oak vessels and twelve months of bottle refinement, allowing Nebbiolo’s structure to soften without losing its character.
Rose and violet mingle with dried cherry, spice, leather and tobacco. The palate is broad and enveloping, with ripe but firm tannins and a persistent finish. For the 2022, the importer’s published reviews emphasize orange peel, wild strawberry and refreshing balance. Serve with braised beef, game, mushrooms or mature cheese.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Damilano’s roots in Barolo reach back to 1890, when Giuseppe Borgogno began growing grapes and making wine from his own vineyards. His son-in-law Giacomo Damilano took responsibility in 1935, giving the winery its name and developing both the vineyards and cellar.
The next generation took over in 1997. Paolo, Mario and Guido continued the family’s focus on the Langhe, with Nebbiolo and its individual vineyard origins central to the range. Lecinquevigne brings that regional perspective together in a blend rather than a single-site bottling.
