ABOUT THE WINE
The 2023 "Monts Luisants" 1er Cru is a pure Pinot Noir grown on a steep, southeast-facing slope just above the village of Morey-Saint-Denis. At higher altitude than many neighboring parcels, this site benefits from cooler temperatures and thin, limestone-rich soils that produce wines of finesse and clarity. This vintage opens with aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, violets, and a touch of underbrush, evolving with aeration to reveal hints of black tea and crushed stone.
Fermented with a significant proportion of whole clusters and aged in French oak (around 60-70% new), the wine achieves a beautiful interplay between structure and perfume. Farming is organic and biodynamic in practice, enhancing site transparency and vibrancy. The 2023 vintage, marked by a relatively cool growing season with excellent ripeness, has yielded a wine of balance and expressive nuance.
Best paired with game birds, roasted duck, or earthy mushroom dishes, this wine also has the tension and structure to reward 10–15 years in the cellar.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Domaine Dujac, founded in 1967 by Jacques Seysses, has become one of Burgundy’s most respected domaines, renowned for its expressive, terroir-driven wines and commitment to thoughtful viticulture. Now run by the second generation—Jeremy and Alec Seysses—Dujac continues to evolve while holding firm to its roots. Organic farming practices are embraced across all holdings, with biodynamic methods used on select parcels.
Dujac is particularly known for its use of whole cluster fermentation and minimal intervention in the cellar, techniques that preserve purity and texture. With holdings across some of the Côte d'Or's most celebrated vineyards, including Clos de la Roche and Échezeaux, the domaine brings an articulate voice to each climat. In “Monts Luisants,” they reveal a rarely seen elegance and luminosity in Morey-Saint-Denis—making this bottling a hidden gem in their lineup.
