2023 Maison A & S Maranges "Le Bas des Loyéres", Burgundy, France
The nose opens with aromas of fresh red fruits, notably morello cherry, raspberry, and a hint of redcurrant. The palate is supple and juicy, with a tangy streak that stretches the wine without heaviness. The tannins are fine, well-integrated, and the slightly spicy finish leaves a lovely sensation of freshness.

ABOUT THIS WINE
The "Le Bas des Loyères" plot, planted in 1970, is located at an altitude of 200 meters, on a soil primarily composed of white marl, providing finesse and minerality to the wine. This limestone terroir allows for excellent water retention and favors optimal grape maturation. Facing south, the plot enjoys direct sunlight throughout the day, ensuring a beautiful aromatic concentration. The yield is controlled at 40 hl/ha to ensure a faithful expression of the terroir.
The manual harvest took place on September 10, 2023, followed by a careful sorting of the grapes, which were fully destemmed before being placed in wooden vats. The fermentation lasted 15 days, with gentle extraction, alternating punching down and pump overs. After pressing, the wine was aged for 12 months in oak barrels, then refined in a vat for stabilization. No sulfites were added during vin ification, except after malolactic fermentation and just before bottling.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Maison A&S was founded in 2018 by long-time friends and talented winemakers Pierre-Alexandre Soltana and Alexandre Aires, focusing on creating exceptional Burgundy wines through a micro-négoce approach. Initially renting a 17th-century cellar in Chagny, they produced their first vintages (2018–2020) before acquiring a winery and plots in Nantoux and Pommard in 2021. Specializing in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté, the duo combines traditional Burgundy methods with a modern perspective. Pierre-Alexandre is also the head of viticulture at Domaine des Comtes Lafon, while Alexandre works as the cellar master at Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair.
