2025 Louis Moreau Petit Chablis, Burgundy, France
Fresh, bright, and classically Chablisien, Louis Moreau’s Petit Chablis offers a pure, approachable expression of Chardonnay shaped by the cool climate of northern Burgundy. Crisp green apple, lemon and white flowers lead into subtle notes of pear and fresh herbs, with a clean mineral undertone. Light and energetic on the palate, it combines brisk acidity with a gently rounded texture, finishing dry, citrus-driven, and refreshingly precise.

ABOUT THE WINE
Made from 100% Chardonnay, Petit Chablis represents the youthful, immediately inviting side of the Chablis region. Louis Moreau’s version emphasizes freshness and varietal purity, balancing ripe orchard fruit with citrus, floral notes, and the subtle stony character associated with this cool northern Burgundian landscape.
The 2025 vintage is particularly youthful, showing an aromatic profile centered on lemon, green apple, pear, and delicate white blossoms. The palate is crisp and lively, with Chardonnay providing just enough texture to soften the wine’s vibrant acidity. Rather than emphasizing richness or oak, the style favors clarity, tension, and an uncomplicated expression of fruit and terroir.
Louis Moreau practices sustainable viticulture, with careful vineyard management designed to maintain healthy soils and preserve the character of individual sites. In the cellar, Petit Chablis is handled with a similarly restrained philosophy. Fermentation and élevage in stainless steel preserve the wine’s freshness and aromatic precision, allowing Chardonnay’s citrus and orchard-fruit character to remain at the forefront.
Designed to be enjoyed young, this is a natural partner for oysters, shellfish, sushi, grilled or poached fish, goat cheese, fresh salads, and simply prepared poultry. Its bright acidity also makes it an excellent aperitif.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
The Moreau family’s roots in Chablis extend back to 1814, giving the family more than two centuries of history in the region. After gaining winemaking experience beyond Burgundy, Louis Moreau returned to Chablis and established Domaine Louis Moreau in 1994, building an estate centered on the vineyards historically associated with his family.
Today, the domaine farms vineyards across several levels of the Chablis hierarchy, from Petit Chablis and Chablis through Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. Particularly important to the estate is its substantial holding in Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, one of the region’s most celebrated vineyards.
Louis Moreau’s philosophy combines respect for Chablis tradition with precise, contemporary winemaking. Sustainable farming, careful vineyard work, and restrained cellar techniques are used to highlight the differences among sites rather than obscure them. The resulting wines favor freshness, minerality, purity, and balance, with Petit Chablis serving as an accessible introduction to the domaine’s distinctly Chablisien style.
