Burgundy is unique in that it is fundamentally structured by the quality of the vineyards within. A château in Bordeaux, for example, can add or subtract vineyards and it will have no bearing on the estate wine it produces - it is the châteaux themselves that are recognized. A domaine in Burgundy, however, may produce a village, a 1er Cru (from a single vineyard of great quality), and a Grand Cru (from a single vineyard of exceptional quality) wine, and have those wines be at three enormously different quality levels (and price points) - it is the vineyard foremost that is recognized. What does it all mean, and why in the world is Burgundy considered one of the greatest yet most bewildering wine regions in the world? Let us lead you through it all.
This seated tasting is limited to 16 people, will start promptly at 6:00 pm at our Westside location, and lasts about 90 minutes.
We will be serving 6 wines + light charcuterie and cheese.
