2017 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Napa Valley, California, USA
A battalion of ripe black fruit and blueberry compote is infused with sultry spices, charcuterie, clove and dark chocolate aromas. Expansive on entry, the broad-reaching palate develops a tailing regiment with crushed rock, toffee and polished tannins.
ABOUT THIS WINE
Picked at full ripeness and maturity. Hand-sorted and de-stemmed to small stainless steel tanks and open-top fermenters, the wines are pressed off at dryness after 2-4 weeks on the skins. Bordeaux varietals are aged primarily in new French oak for 19 months then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Former race car driver Randy Lewis is at the helm of Lewis Cellars—in the heart of the Valley with expressions of some of the finest Cabernet and Chardonnay in Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, Carneros and Russian River. This tiny production winery sky rocketed in popularity in 2016 when their 2014 Cabernet was named Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of The Year.
In 1992 Randy and Debbie established a small family winery in Napa Valley and were later joined by their son, Dennis.
We are literally hands-on in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, sales and distribution, and we thrive on this challenge and the relationships we cultivate in the process. It is our continuing goal to create world-class wines. Our total production is approximately 9,000 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
