ABOUT THE WINE
Cruz del Mar Cream is a blend of Palomino and Moscatel grown in family vineyards. Where many Cream Sherries use Pedro Ximénez to sweeten an Oloroso base, César Florido uses Moscatel, a grape closely associated with his home village of Chipiona.
The blend averages seven years in solera, bringing maturity and continuity to a medium-sweet style. Moscatel contributes a different aromatic character from the usual Pedro Ximénez, linking the wine to Chipiona’s local tradition. Serve lightly chilled with roasted nuts, almond pastries or blue cheese.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Founded in 1887, Bodegas César Florido is the oldest bodega in Chipiona and remains under the care of a fifth-generation member of the founding family. The village sits close to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with an Atlantic climate that shapes its vineyards and cellars.
The family formerly supplied other Sherry houses as an almacenista before beginning to bottle under its own name in 1988. César’s work preserves Chipiona’s Moscatel heritage alongside Palomino-based Sherries, using family vineyards, traditional soleras and the same attention across the range, including this Cream bottling.
