ABOUT THIS WINE

Bin 27 continues to be made from selected reserve Port wines, which are chosen for their smooth, round and full-bodied mouthfeel and their intense and fine fruit character. Some of these wines originate from Fonseca's own estates, while others are made from grapes supplied by independent winemakers with whom the company maintains a close relationship. The wines are aged in large oak barrels to give them smoothness and complexity, but without stripping them of their intense and vibrant fruit character. Bin 27 shares the tradition and style of the great Fonseca Vintage Ports, as well as much of their depth and character. However, Bin 27 is bottled when it is ready to drink, and can be served by the glass without the need for decanting. To ensure consistency of character and its intrinsic Fonseca style, it is made from different lots of reserve wines, offering the customer a safe and affordable value.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

From the legendary 1840, Fonseca's first Vintage Port release, to the superb declared vintages of the last decade, the house has produced a succession of highly acclaimed wines even in the most adverse moments of history.

Over the years, Fonseca's determination to preserve and refine its distinctive house style has drawn it ever closer to the vineyard. The last three decades of the 20th century saw it invest in vineyard ownership and take a leading role in vineyard renovation in the Douro Valley. Fonseca's three estates, Panascal, Cruzeiro and Santo António, with their distinctive terroirs, have a key role in defining the unmistakable character of the firm's wines. Fonseca also became a pioneer of organic and sustainable viticulture, helping to conserve the unique ecosystem and landscape of the valley for future generations.

Fonseca can take pride in its past and look forward to the future with confidence. Wine drinkers increasingly seek wines of authenticity and character with a genuine story to tell and made by creative winemakers who understand their terroir and respect the environment.
