NV Ganevat Vin de France Rouge “Madelon”, Jura, France
Playful yet precise, Madelon is a vibrant, chillable red blend that showcases Jean-François Ganevat’s flair for blending Jura purity with southern French charm. Juicy red fruits—think cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate—lead the nose, backed by subtle spice, soft herbs, and a whisper of earth. Light-bodied with supple tannins and bright acidity, it drinks effortlessly with a clean, lifted finish.

ABOUT THE WINE
Madelon is a non-vintage, Vin de France red composed primarily of Gamay from Beaujolais and Auvergne, blended with small amounts of Pinot Noir and other local Jura varieties. It’s part of Ganevat’s négociant project—labelled under “Anne & Jean-François Ganevat”—where fruit is sourced from like-minded organic growers outside the Jura, then vinified with the same hands-off philosophy that defines the domaine wines.
Fermentation is spontaneous with whole-cluster inclusion, no sulfur added, and aging takes place in neutral vessels to preserve freshness and varietal clarity. The result is a feather-light, fruit-forward red with notes of tart cherry, rose petal, crushed granite, and a touch of black pepper. Best served slightly chilled, it pairs beautifully with charcuterie, grilled sausages, roast chicken, or even a lentil salad.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Jean-François Ganevat is one of Jura’s most influential natural winemakers, renowned for his hyper-detailed, terroir-driven cuvées and commitment to biodynamic farming. After honing his skills in Burgundy, he returned to his family’s estate in La Combe de Rotalier and transformed it into a beacon for low-intervention, high-purity wines. In addition to his estate wines, Ganevat collaborates with his sister Anne on a line of Vin de France bottlings made from organically grown grapes sourced from trusted growers throughout France.
These wines, like Madelon, reflect the same natural approach—indigenous yeasts, no additives, no sulfur, and minimal intervention—but with a more approachable, joyful style. They offer an expressive and accessible window into Ganevat’s philosophy, making them favorites among natural wine lovers around the world.
