2023 Jérôme Prévost La Closerie "GC23" Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs, Extra Brut, Champagne, France
A rare expression of Jérôme Prévost’s singular vision, “GC23” brings the La Closerie philosophy into Grand Cru territory with a Champagne of precision, depth, and quiet power. Layers of citrus oil, white orchard fruit, crushed chalk, almond, and delicate spice unfold across a finely textured palate, driven by vibrant acidity, vinous concentration, and a long mineral finish.
ABOUT THE WINE
“GC23” reflects Prévost’s pursuit of terroir transparency through minimal intervention and meticulous craftsmanship. Sourced from Grand Cru vineyards, this cuvée emphasizes purity of fruit and the tension between ripeness and mineral structure. The wine offers aromas of lemon zest, pear, white flowers, toasted hazelnut, and saline chalk, evolving toward subtle notes of pastry and spice with air.
Made with the same Burgundian sensibility that defines La Closerie, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, primarily in neutral oak barrels, allowing texture and complexity to develop without masking the vineyard character. Bottled with low dosage as an Extra Brut, the wine preserves its natural energy and precision. Pair with oysters, scallops, roasted poultry, aged cheeses, or refined dishes built around mushrooms and cream.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Jérôme Prévost founded La Closerie in the village of Gueux in the Montagne de Reims, transforming a small family inheritance of vines into one of Champagne’s most admired grower estates. A former student and collaborator of Anselme Selosse, Prévost adopted a deeply terroir-focused approach centered on organic-minded farming, low yields, native fermentation, and patient élevage.
Known especially for revealing the expressive potential of Pinot Meunier, Prévost produces wines of remarkable individuality—Champagnes that combine intensity, texture, and transparency rather than relying on conventional blending. Each bottling is produced in tiny quantities and has become highly sought after for its purity and uncompromising craftsmanship.
