2023 Jérôme Prévost La Closerie "Les Béguines LB23" Blanc de Noirs, Extra Brut, Champagne, France
The flagship wine of La Closerie, “Les Béguines” is a benchmark expression of Pinot Meunier, offering extraordinary depth, purity, and mineral-driven elegance. Aromas of golden apple, citrus zest, pear, white flowers, spice, and crushed stone unfold into a rich yet electric palate with fine mousse, vibrant acidity, and a long savory finish.
ABOUT THE WINE
“Les Béguines” comes from Prévost’s treasured vineyard parcel in Gueux, planted primarily to old-vine Pinot Meunier growing in sandy-calcareous soils. The wine reveals the full complexity of the variety: ripe orchard fruit, citrus, herbs, spice, and a distinctive mineral tension.
Following a philosophy inspired by Burgundian winemaking, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in neutral barrels before bottling with minimal dosage. Rather than blending away differences, each release captures the character of a specific growing season. Pair with shellfish, roast chicken, veal, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Jérôme Prévost established La Closerie after taking over his family’s vines and gradually developing a style centered around authenticity and vineyard expression. Mentored by Anselme Selosse, he embraced natural fermentation, thoughtful farming, and a patient approach to élevage.
Today, La Closerie stands among Champagne’s most respected small growers. Prévost’s wines are celebrated not for consistency of style, but for their ability to reveal nuance, season, and soil with remarkable clarity.
