Grand Siècle is Laurent-Perrier’s Prestige Cuvée, created around a distinctive philosophy: rather than relying on a single vintage, the House blends three exceptional and complementary years in an effort to “recreate the perfect year.” Iteration No. 27 is composed of 2015 (65%), 2013 (25%) and 2012 (10%), bringing together the richness of 2015, the freshness and balance of 2013, and the finesse of 2012.
The blend is 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, sourced exclusively from eight Grand Cru villages. Chardonnay comes from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant, while Pinot Noir comes from Tours-sur-Marne, Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzy. The wine spends 10 years aging on its lees in the 750ml format, developing considerable complexity while retaining the freshness and precision central to the Laurent-Perrier style.
Iteration No. 27 is vibrant and refined, showing notes of candied citrus, honeysuckle, hazelnut and fresh almond, followed by pastry, honey and subtle roasted nuances. The palate combines ripe fruit, dried apricot and candied citrus with a long, harmonious finish and pronounced mineral freshness. It is a Champagne of remarkable depth and energy, balancing maturity with tremendous vitality.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Founded in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is one of Champagne’s historic houses and is particularly recognized for a style built around freshness, purity and elegance. The modern identity of the House was profoundly shaped by Bernard de Nonancourt, who took control in 1948 and developed Laurent-Perrier into one of Champagne’s leading independent houses. His approach emphasized Chardonnay, extended aging and the art of blending reserve wines.
Grand Siècle, first created in 1959, represents the pinnacle of this philosophy. Bernard de Nonancourt believed that blending exceptional vintages could produce a Champagne greater and more complete than any single vintage could achieve. Each Iteration therefore combines three complementary years, a majority of Chardonnay with Pinot Noir, and fruit from Champagne’s finest Grand Cru villages. Since its creation, Grand Siècle has become the signature Prestige Cuvée of Laurent-Perrier and one of the most distinctive expressions of multi-vintage blending in Champagne.
